Captain
Virgil G. Hobbs, Jr. was born in Baltimore Maryland and spent every
summer of his childhood on Hoopers Island in the Chesapeake Bay.
His grandfather, Captain Charles H. Parks was a skipjack and bugeye
captain prior to founding the Charles H. Parks Seafood Packing Company,
a business which continues today with his grandchildren at the helm.
Young Virgil learned to sail and navigate the seas from his grandfather,
and after many years plying the Chesapeake, is pleased to offer charters
on his 41 foot Hunter yacht the "Catawampus II."
Captain
Hobbs is a Member of the United States Power Squadron, Dundalk Chapter;
Baltimore City Yacht Association, Vice Commodore 1996 and Commodore
1997; United States Sailing Association; and Chesapeake Bay Yacht
Racing Association. Captain Hobbs and son Vance, and Sailing vessel
"Catawampus" are known in Sailing Racing Circles bay wide
for great helmsmanship and competitiveness. Catawampus earned Bay
Wide High Point Award in 1993, and in Baltimore City Harbor Racing
Events was winner of several Mayor's Cup awards.
